One of the most revealing things I found out years ago is that how we feel about others in sales effects your ability to attract money and success.
Since everything is attracted to us at an energetic level, then our most dominant thoughts and attitudes act as activating forces to what we attract.
When you’re in a situation where someone is selling something to you, what’s your initial response?
Is it one of irritation – “… oh there goes another salesman …” or something like that?
A lot of people get irritated by sales people, telemarketers, and anyone who tries to sell anything.
For years I sold insurance and investments, and was recruiting people into that industry. And often I would here people say something like, “I never want to be in sales” or “I don’t want to be pushy and try to sell something to people”, or “I don’t want to work on commission because then I’m not acting in the best interest of the people”, and so on …
What these people don’t realize is that, sales is great. If it wasn’t for sales, no one would have a job, because companies wouldn’t make any money.
Also, if someone is selling something, and promoting their products or their business, even if you’re not interested, why is that bad?
When you have an attitude that you don’t like sales people, you take on the attitude and mindset that you don’t like companies marketing and promoting themselves, and what kind of a message are you sending to the Universe?
Is it one of lack or abundance?
There’s a great saying in one of my favorite books, “The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” – ‘… the way you do anything, is the way you do everything …’
The way you feel about others in sales, is the way you feel about sales and business, and that transfers over to YOUR business and what you attract.
Every time you’re in a sales situation you need to get excited about the fact that there’s an exchange of money going on, this is what the free enterprise system is all about.
Let me give you an example from my life.
As you may have already read in my posts, I just purchased a new house. It’s a great home, but we’d like to do some remodeling to it.
So, the realtor that sold us that house got paid his commissions. The other realtor that is a seller’s agent, got paid as well.
The mortgage company got paid and will keep getting paid with my payments.
I’m installing new hardwood floors, so I had to buy them from a flooring company. I then have someone installing and finishing them for me. There’s a contractor that’s fixing some things in the basement for me. There’s someone who’s installing new doors and recessed lights in the house. Then there’s a painter who will repaint the entire house. Then the carpeting that is going to be installed upstairs by an installer.
There’s already 5 individual contractors that are working on all these projects and getting paid. They’re making money and are able to feed their families because of this and other people like myself. What about all the people involved with all the products that I had to buy. The hardwood floors, new carpet, new doors, new window, light fixtures, and a bunch of other small things around the house. Then there’s the furniture store for new furniture.
How many people are getting paid in the process?
Lots and lots, and guess what, they’re consumers of other products and services that either directly or indirectly benefit me.
They shop at stores and do business with companies, that some are holdings in the mutual funds that I own, so I make an indirect profit there. Some of them buy from businesses that use some of my marketing materials to attract those customers, so I benefit there as well. They’re spending money to improve their lives and therefore creating more opportunities for business.
You see how that works. Now I know I’m not telling you anything new, but as you read about it, doesn’t that get you pumped up? It gets me excited thinking about all that wealth and abundance out there, and I get to directly influence it, because everything counts, and benefit from that as well.
So feel good when you spend money. Feel good about others who sell and promote their products and services, because that is what creates wealth and opportunities for you and your business.
