Most people just run around having no sense of where they’re going and what they’re trying to accomplish, in the big scheme of things.
For a long time I thought that focus was something you needed to really work on and be extremely persistent with. At least that made sense to me.
Here’s what I believe about that today. Your focus will come from your subconscious mind, automatically, without you having to force yourself to do it, when you put the right programming into it.
If you subconscious mind doesn’t have a specific target it’s going after, it will still go after something, but it may not be what you consciously want.
So let’s say you want to make a $100,000 a year. You focus on it, you write down your goals, and for a while you become focused doing the things you need to do to accomplish that.
But then something different comes along, and you jump to that, and now you’re on to something different, and you’re not focused on the things you were doing before.
Your subconscious mind gets in tune with your thoughts and starts working in that direction.
Then, a couple of weeks go by and you remember, oh yeah I was going to make a $100,000 in this business, so you go back to your routine, now you have to force yourself to do the things you need to do, because your subconscious mind is focused on something else.
By the time you get your conscious and your subconscious aligned, again something else comes along, and distracts you, and you’re on to that.
It’s a vicious cycle, and it seems that you’re working hard, and not accomplishing much. And then you say silently to yourself, goal setting doesn’t work.
It’s not that goal setting doesn’t work, or that your subconscious won’t do what you want it to do. It’s the programming you install that dictates your behavior.
Maxwell Maltz had a profound statement in his classic book, “Psychocybernetics”. And that is – “You will become what you think about most of the time”
Whatever the dominant thoughts you allow to occupy your mind, is what your subconscious mind is going to attract to you.
It’s working 24/7 behind the scenes to bring you what you’ve asked for. But, you must program it with exactly what you want. It needs to become the ‘dominating’ idea in your mind. You need to become committed to it. In other words, your desire for that objective needs to be at 100%
Because if you’re only half committed, than not much will happen. It’s not your most dominating thought. You also must believe that you will get that. In other words, you need to remove any negative beliefs that might be contradictory to your goal and install new empowering beliefs that will help you move in the right direction.
Your subconscious mind is capable to bring the most amazing information, ideas, people, and events into your life, but only when there’s harmony between your conscious and your subconscious mind. When there’s no doubt about that, is when it’s going to happen.
