It’s one day before Christmas. People are rushing to get their last minute shopping done. The malls are packed with cars. As I look at this huge number of people that are going out and spending money, I can’t help but to think of the abundance that’s all around us.
Just think of how much money is being spend out there. And I can’t believe that some people complain that the economy is bad, or that business is slow.
I live in Michigan, where the economy is the worst in United States. Real estate is down 30% to 40%. The automotive companies have been laying off tens of thousands of people. Foreclosure rate is at it’s highest. At least, that’s what we hear. But the parking lots of malls are packed with cars. I went to a restaurant last Saturday night, and even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait for almost 30 minutes to get seated, because they were that busy.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but it doesn’t seem as bad as they say. The way I see it, is you get what you choose to see. And all I see is abundance. I see a HUGE market of people out there, and if you can find a way to give that market what they want, they will spend their money with you.
Now I know, that sometimes a business can get seriously affected by the economic condition of the area, especially a retail outlet. But in my opinion, don’t get married to this business. Meaning, that there are countless other opportunities out there and all you have to do is look.
Here’s an example. The mortgage business in our area is significantly down, and people that were making good money before, are making a lot less and a lot of them are out the business. Now, I have friend that does mortgages, but he works for a company that services the entire country, and his business doesn’t rely strictly on the local market. And he says even though his business is somewhat down, but not by much.
So the bottom line is that it’s up to us what we choose to see. If you see lack and limitation, then that’s what you get, and if you see prosperity and abundance, then you get that.
